‘Kimono-Forest’ at Arashiyama Station in Kyoto is fantastic!

嵐電嵐山 Arashiyama station

Have you been to Arashiyama in Kyoto? You can visit Arashiyama station by Keifuku Electric Railroad Arashiyama Main Line. It takes about 22 minutes from Shijo-Omiya Station in Kyoto-City. When you arrive at the station of Arashiyama, you would be glad to see the sight of beautiful lights. This project of lights was produced by Mr. Yasumichi Morita who is CEO of GLAMOROUS co.,ltd. and world-famous interior designer, when the station building was fully refurbished in 2013. Around 600 numbers of poles simulating ‘Light forest’ make a fantastic space produced by LED lights through various Kyo-Yuzen dyeings. Basically it is so beautiful a day, but of course would be so nice and amazingly great at night.Incidentally this ‘Kimono-Forest’ won the prize of Platinum in ‘A’Design Award and Competition’ in Italy. I like some designs by Yasumichi Morita since before and especially interior design in MEGU Japanese Restaurant in NY was my favorite.

By the way, there is ‘Eki no Ashiyu’ within the premise of this station. ‘Ashiyu’ means a footbath. This ‘Eki no Ashiyu’ is using warm water from Arashiyama-onsen Hot Spring and the fee is 200 yen, including towel. It is useful while waiting for the train:)
